Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS)

An AFSS is a document all building owners must keep up-to-date with. It essentially says that this building ensures their fire safety measures are compliant and a regular maintenance schedule is kept to. Both the local council and Fire and Rescue NSW request this information, therefore, it is crucial to maintain annually.

However, not just anyone can endorse an AFSS - you need an Accredited Practitioner (Fire Safety) to do it for you. Luckily for you, we have multiple technicians here at Armour Fire that can endorse your AFSS!

The process is quick and painless if you are keeping up to date with your regular fire safety schedules - we'll come in, do an inspection, check any maintenance records against recommended schedules, and endorse your AFSS if we feel the site is compliant. Additionally, if you already have Armour Fire doing your maintenance, the process is even quicker, as we keep digital records of your fire maintenance, saving you the hassle of finding any paperwork!

However, it is best to contact us early, as you may need rectification work performed before the AFSS is submitted. We can't endorse the AFSS unless every fire asset is compliant, so repairs and/or installations, in line with AS 1851-2012, may be required.

Once complete, the AFSS is submitted to the relevant authorities, and if it is passed, the AFSS must be displayed clearly in the building.
