Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS)
An AFSS is a document all building owners must keep up-to-date with. It essentially confirms that the building fire safety measures are compliant and a regular maintenance schedule has been kept to. Both the local council and Fire and Rescue NSW request this information, therefore, it is crucial to maintain annually. Further, there are penalties for late submission of the AFSS.

However, not just anyone can endorse (commonly referred to as 'sign off') an AFSS - you need an Accredited Practitioner (Fire Safety), more commonly referred to as an APFS, to do it for you. We have multiple technicians here at Armour Fire that can endorse your AFSS!

The process is quick and painless if you are keeping up to date with your regular fire safety schedules - we'll come in, do an inspection, check maintenance records against standards, and endorse your AFSS if we feel the site is compliant. Additionally, if you already have Armour Fire doing your maintenance, the process is even quicker, as we keep digital records of your fire maintenance, saving you the hassle of finding any paperwork!

However, it is best to contact us early, as you may need rectification work performed before the AFSS is submitted. We can't endorse the AFSS unless every fire asset is compliant, so repairs and/or installations, in line with AS 1851-2012, may be required.

Once complete, the AFSS is submitted to the relevant authorities, and must be displayed clearly in the building.
